It is reasonable for patients with Anwar’s scalp condition to have such concerns. He currently has Folliculitis Decalvans (FD) with an underlying condition of Acne Keloidalis Nuchae (AKN).

Anwar has been on an emotional roller coaster for years, and so has his father, Aldwyn. Now, thanks to Dr. Umar’s innovative techniques, they both have reason to hope. “I am cautiously optimistic,” Aldwyn states. “There is always an element of risk, but I think with the research he has done and the doctor’s track record, this puts him in the 90^th percentile success rate.”

Aldwyn has great confidence in his son’s choice of Dr. Umar for the surgery. He is “cautiously optimistic” that this surgery will be successful.

Ready to Begin

Dr. Umar and his staff have made all the necessary preparations to ensure a safe, successful surgery. His office and surgical suites are state-of-the-art, and his surgical team functions as an extension of the doctor himself. “Looks like we are all set,” Dr. Umar says to Anwar.

He believes his coworkers and his boss are more focused on his appearance than on his achievements. “Work is going great,” he says. “I do think that if I want to ascend into higher levels of leadership, it will be less about my technical skills and experiential skills, and more about my presentation, so I think this can pay dividends in the future.”

Anwar is intelligent and highly skilled, but he feels as though his appearance and the damage done by folliculitis decalvans, is holding him back.

Meanwhile, Aldwyn Tries to Relax

Aldwyn is sitting patiently in a comfortable chair as the surgery begins. He and Anwar have both been waiting a long time for this moment, and Aldwyn is excited about a new outcome for his son. When asked about his hopes, he simply says, “I hope that they are done on time, and I can see him again.”
